Previous Episodes “Erm…I don’t know if I should invite you for my party or not.” Madu stood before Guru’s desk, waving a black party invitation card before his face. “Considering what you did to me…” he continued, “you don’t deserve to be invited. It’s a party for hotshots and unfortunately, you aren’t one.” He struck Guru’s nose with the card. “You’re just Guru…” He dropped the card on the desk. “But that’s cool.” Guru stared at the card and looked up to find Madu’s fist extended genially to him. He let out his own fist and bumped it. “Yeah, that’s how we roll. Bros over hoes.” Guru looked confused. “What hoes?” “Just saying…” He walked to the door and turned. “Keep your head above water.” He made a gun with his fingers and pointed it at Guru before leaving the office. When the door shut, Guru’s eyes settled on the…

Anticipate a Valentine’s special next weekend. I won’t tell you what it is but just anticipate. This post is dedicated to @Coolrosebelle from her beau. Previous Episodes It was love at first sight for Khalid when she came into the kitchen. She was a gorgeous little girl with a contagious smile that touched something profound in him. She looked every bit like Monet except for a Nubian nose he was sure was from her father. Brown, curious eyes searched Khalid’s before they looked up at Mrs. Tunji for some form of introduction. “Hope, darling, this is another friend of your mommy’s. Could you say hi to him?” Hope gave a wave and a smile. “He’s Uncle Khalid,” Mrs. Tunji introduced. “Khalid, meet Hope.” At first Khalid was unable to say a word. He was not so good with kids and this one in particular, was making him feel all sorts…

Previous Episodes They were kept waiting for three hours. Madu, in his annoying nature, complained the entire time and threatened to leave, every now and then. “Maybe there’s no child sef,” he kicked off a fresh whine as the clock struck half past three. “I mean, I knew Monet. We were very close and she never mentioned a child. Not once.” “So you’re saying Mrs. Tunji is lying?” Bankole asked him. “What else? I see no other explanation. She said come for lunch and see Monet’s daughter. We came and she’s kept us here since 1pm. Something smells fishy abeg.” “I don’t think she’s lying to us,” Khalid stated. “There must be some reason for the delay. With the little I know about Mrs. Tunji, she’s not tardy.” Madu didn’t take Khalid’s explanation. He walked off to the minibar in the corner of the living room where they were seated…

It took just three weeks to get them all out of sorts. Meetings upon endless meetings birthed sleepless nights where they had to come up with the year’s calendar, embark on researches, build a system on the foundation of a pre-existing one with a mix of a totally new fashion culture to fit the market, and finally to emerge with fresh designs for a new era of Guru and Monet. It was total madness! What came as a blessing to all four guys was fast turning into a burden and they found themselves stretched beyond their limits. For Madu who was in charge of public relations, he devised a way to lessen his load. Being the lastborn in his family, he was accustomed to having people do his duties, hence he simply thrust the bulk of his responsibilities to some young dude who was only too glad to be employed…

“Oga, na dis street?” Khalid answered the question with a distracted nod. His eyes were fixed on the exterior of his house where a utility van was parked. “Just stop here.” The cab rolled to a halt at the sidewalk of the quiet street that led to the house. “We’ll wait small,” Khalid told the cab driver. The man looked like he wanted to protest but one stare into Khalid’s face gave him a change of mind. The wait was a long one and all through the period, Khalid secured his eyes on the van. Finally, the pedestrian gate of the house opened and a young, fine-looking man with a fit body in a pair of denim pants and a shirt, stepped out and got into the van. “Quick! Drive to that van!” Khalid pointed. The cab driver revived the engine and aimed straight for Khalid’s house. “Oga, you don…
