It’s Another Novocaine Saturday #23

Doctor Omotola Adeniyi Onuora is officially the most annoying patient I’ve ever had to deal with. And I can’t show my annoyance because family.

She is about to have her baby and some members of the family are here. Tola invited them and others for the birth of her son. Even some strange faces I have never seen before are present. She says they are her cousins. There’s one wearing a white garment, going about and sprinkling some weird water around the VIP birthing unit. I have had to send everyone out, leaving Nne and Elsie with us. Without them, I would have lost my mind.

“Tola, stop cussing and push this boy out nau.”

IANS Valentine Special

Happy Valentine’s Day…in advance! I’m sure you’ve been wondering where all the writers on this blog have gone to. Hmmm… Tomi and I have been busy on personal projects and haven’t had time with The Darker Berry. Olajumoke is busy as well. She sends her regrets. Fatimah will be back next week. Ibukunwrites has issues with her laptop. Once it’s fixed, she will return. Seye will be back soon too. Hard times have hit all of us. We can no longer sit comfortably and write as we used to and money will come. We have to take on extra jobs to get the income flowing. Hence, it’s not as easy and fun as it used to be. Please, bear with us. But in the spirit of the love season, I am giving you guys a double dose of It’s Another Saturday on Monday and Tuesday. Don’t miss it! One of…

There is no love without forgiveness, and there is no forgiveness without love. The above quote was shared on Facebook by my mom when she was struggling with accepting Ndidi into her life. She had told me how she wanted to walk away when the girl surfaced from nowhere. “But where would I go?” Nne asked me as if I had the answer. “Your father is my home, and that home is in my heart, and I carry it everywhere I go.” I was overwhelmed by the profundity of her words. I wanted a love as hers, a heart that could forgive and seek peace no matter what. That day, I made a vow to love Honey the way my mom loved my dad. But there’s an asshole in every man. Nne also said this to me once. This asshole is known to take something good and mess it…

IANS, New Series and Goodbye 2016

The year has come to an end and I’m glad to be here, still writing. It has been an eventful year for me. A tough one for all of us, I guess. Nigeria has never been this depressing but somehow we made it. My heart goes out to those who have lost loved ones this year. Be consoled. May peace find rest in your hearts. So, I just want to thank all of you for riding with me this year. Every single person. For coming here, reading, commenting, sharing, buying my books, checking up on me, praying for me, telling people about my work… I owe you so much. And you know my thanks will not be complete without our famous kiss I will be putting up a couple of IANS episodes to mark off the end of the year here. When the new year commences, we will resume. Other…
