The Fourth Finger

The Fourth Finger Marathon

Good evening, fam.

First, I’m not talking to those of you who missed #ChatwithSally. ?

If you missed it, you missed a lot. It was fun. Go on Twitter and check the hashtag #ChatwithSally to catch up.

There will be a real life meet up either in April or May. So if you missed this and you’re in Lagos, you can always get to meet me then.

So unto the business of the day!

I’ll be posting six episodes of The Fourth Finger, starting from the 7th to the 12th of March.

The Fourth Finger is a series, different from It’s Another Saturday in writing style and story. It’s Another Saturday was easier to write because it was done in the first person narrative. Thoughts and intentions of the characters were easier to understand because they were speaking directly with you. Most writers use this form because it’s easy writing. But not so with The Fourth Finger.

The structure entails that a good sum of the story be told for the reader to be engrossed. And that’s why I’ll be giving you a marathon for a whole week. That way, you read without interruptions and get the gist and then we can continue weekly.

I’ll keep on posting stories from other writers and I want to plead with you to please support them by dropping comments. That is why they came here. Moskedapages is known for great feedback but I feel sad and rather embarrassed when you guys read and don’t drop comments. If writers wanted silence, they wouldn’t share their work online.

You don’t have to be nice all the time. Criticism is also accepted here. It helps a writer’s growth and confidence. When there’s no comment, you’re basically saying you’re not there. And of what use is writing if no one is there?

I don’t know about the writing process of other writers but for me, I take days, sometimes weeks, sleepless nights to put down a single episode. And when I don’t get feedback, it’s like saying I wasted my time. And I start to question if I’m good or not. And yes my day goes terribly.

So there I’ve opened up about how we feel as writers. Feedback trumps profit sometimes. If I sold all my books and didn’t get an encouraging comment, I’ll never enjoy my success.

So please support the guest writers here. I know some of you are diehard Sally fans but come out of that cocoon a little and try something different.

God bless you for enduring the long write-up.

See you on the 7th.

Meanwhile I’m still taking questions on Twitter #ChatwithSally

secondly, yaaaayyy, finally you have agreed to the meetngreet, THANK YOU. *applaudsmyselftoo. Pleaseeee dont make it 2nd week of april.
thirdly, as regards our not replying, some writers dont reply your comment so why bother???Ojay Aito, the writer of Two lives and A soul never replied my comments so i decided to lock up about my opinion and be a ghost reader. And if you read the blog late, almost everyone has commented on what you have in mind so not point of repetition. Please Sally, some news or episode about The Immortal Code.I miss it.
Lastly, I Love You Sally, xoxoxo

      Hi Tobislim,
      Morning!
No need to apologize about missing the chat. About the meeting, I am not the one oganizing it. It’s an okadabooks thing, so I can’t set the date.
About Ojay, from what I know, and just confirmed, he answers his comments. Maybe you missed his replies.
As for Immortal’s Code, until I get back my files from my old laptop, I’m sorry, we’ll just have to wait πŸ™
      Have a great week, dear

  13. Tobislim says:

Sally I am sorry, I use the good spirits of mother earth to apologise for my absence! Chei again I am sorry. My heart has been won once again by The fourth finger.’ infact from the name I knew I had to get in on it. Started at about 3am and I’m on the 4th episode. As usual, it’s nothing short of a ‘Sally special’. I just love your writing, I bet it comes to you naturally. Anyway, your number 1 fan is back so tell all those people that were warming up the line to shift. Lol
