The Black Witch, And Why It’s Not On Paperback – Yet

The Black Witch, Not On Paperback – Yet

Hey fam!

It’s been a minute. I had to take a good thirty minutes to dust off the cobwebs here before dropping this post.

How have you been?

This year has been an interesting one for me. Good things have happened, thank God. God is always faithful.

I’ve had the not-so-good things too. And one of them is me being unable to write for pleasure.

Let me explain this better. Through out this year, I wrote for money. No time, brethren. Economy is hard and I had to go for that cheese. Lol. That’s not a bad thing, if you look at it because firstly, it’s what I’ve always wanted, right? So, yay!

Second reason it is not bad is that the quality of my work didn’t drop, just because I was being paid. Art can be commercial without losing its value.

But here’s why I have mixed feelings about the whole thing. I miss writing without deadlines. Just sitting and doing my thing and not thinking about the financial logistics of it. Just sharing my work and having people read and give me feedback.

Yeah, I miss that.

And that is one of the reasons I decided not to have The Black Witch on paperback. First of all, I turned down a publishing deal from a traditional publisher for this. Sounds crazy but that is the truth—and I won’t lie that I feel like I’ve made a big mistake, but I want to have this particular book all to myself. 100% ownership of rights and all. At least, for now.

I am not mentally prepared for a publishing deal at this moment. I could explain it to you, but you might not fully get it.

All the same, I’d love for you to keep your fingers crossed and let’s see what comes up in February for lovers of paperback. I have the book waiting with a vanity printing press. All they need is my go-ahead and the book will be out there.

If there is a need for pre-ordering, I’ll keep you updated.

But in the meantime, you can get the book on Amazon and Bambooks. I have decided not to put it up on Okadabooks until there is a massive demand. The reason is that I haven’t made sales from Okadabooks in a long time. Hence, I see no need for me to remain there.

So, my darlings, I need you to do me a huge one when The Black Witch Drops on the 24th. Buy it, share links to buy it on social media, tell your friends about it, and drop reviews about it. I would really love to hear from you. You can do that for me, right?

Thank you for taking your time to read this.

I’ll be dropping an excerpt later. Stay posted for it!
